Cooking an elaborate meal for lunch every day just isn’t in everyone’s time budget right now. Even when you’re working from home, those lunch break minutes are as precious as gold and are a great time to give your brain a break and recharge your batteries. Honestly, I love a PB&J every once in a while. It makes me feel like a little kid who just got off the bus and is utilizing all the free TV time that came with being the first kid home from school before all the other siblings showed up.
There’s not much excitement to the taste of a PB&J. So why not shake it up? Are you usually a grape jelly lover? Shoot for strawberry, or better yet, blackberry! I’m telling you right now it will blow your mind how good blackberry and peanut butter go together! And while you’re at it, all you smooth peanut butter lovers have got to try crunchy peanut butter just once. That’s all it took to convert me into a crunchy peanut butter addict. It just adds an extra element of texture to your sandwich that will keep your adult taste buds happy!
All you stay-at-home parents or grandparents who are hanging out with the little ones, you’re definitely going to have to share that PB&J with the littles. I’m sorry. It’s just a fact of life. Nothing you have is solely yours anymore if you have kids; everything now also belongs to them. So how do you make a PB&J exciting for a kid who refuses to eat anything besides smooth peanut butter and grape jelly on white bread? Try cookie cutters! Cut that sandwich into a heart shape? Your kid will be over the moon! Coming from someone who nannied for a decade, please trust me when I say this is the best way to get a picky eater to be excited about food. It’s also a great option if your little isn’t a big fan of crusts (because let’s be honest, who is?!).
Alright, that’s my two cents on peanut butter and jelly! Let me know if you try any of these tips. Be sure to share your creations with CreateMyCookbook - Family Recipe Group!
I’d love to see some pictures of your butterfly and football-shaped sandwiches!
